Ah to wake up to the sound of chirping birds - the low soft "chook" and the frequent "pink pink pink of the Blackbird, the cooing of the Pigeons, or even better - the loud "hweet" of the Nightingale. All these sounds evoke visions of a faraway tropical paradise Island don't they?

Now people in Britain don't have to go very far to be in paradise. In fact they don't even have to get out of bed! A British radio station, dubbed "Birdsong", broadcasts the same bird sounds over and over again from six am to midnight every day. The twenty-minute recording which captures the sound of over twelve different birds, was made in 1991 by the Chairman of the radio station, that owns "Birdsong".

It all began earlier this year when a commercial radio station using the radio frequency shut down. DigitalOne put the bird recording on as a "filler", until they could find a real radio station. Britons discovered the birdsong accidentally and loved it so much that they spread the word. As a result, this "station" has over half a million people tuning in every day. Some even use it to wake up in the morning.

The biggest challenge for the fans now is to keep this station alive. DigitalOne has made it very clear that they will take the birdsong off the air once they find a real station for this radio frequency. The fate of the station will depend on whether the fans can raise the required one million Sterling Pounds.

Meanwhile, listen to the video below and let us know if you could listen to "music" like this over and over and over and over again!
