Two British divers believe they have discovered the remains of 'The , a ten-gun sailboat that crashed on the rocks near the Isles of Scilly, Britain, in February of 1784. Among its 49 passengers was a famous British Opera singer, her newborn and their entire fortune.

According to the records, The Nancy was doing well until it hit a really nasty storm and with no lighthouse in the area to guide her, she hit some rocks and was destroyed. The storm lasted for seven days and by the time villagers from the Isles of Scilly came out with rescue boats, it was too late. Among the bodies found was that of Ann Cargill, an extremely popular singer and actress, who was still clutching her baby.

Ann (pictured on the right), was only twenty-four years old when she died and had been an actress and singer since she was fifteen. However, she had recently been banned from India and was returning to London with here entire fortune of $400,000 USD, which in those days was considered a huge sum of money.

Historians are quite thrilled at the find, as divers have been looking for this shipwreck for many decades. The divers, Tod Stevens and Ed Cummings found the shipwreck last year, but did not reveal it to the world until this week, as they wanted to search the wreck site carefully and also preserve it. As far as Ann Cargiill's $400,000 fortune? - that still remains a mystery to be solved.
