After months of searching, Malia and Sasha have finally found their puppy - a six month-old Portuguese Water Dog. Little Bo is a mop of curly black fur with sprinkles of white on his chin, chest and paws.

Though he will not be moving into his new home until Tuesday, Bo came in over the weekend to meet his new owners and even managed to fit in a little jog with President Obama, along the corridors of the White House. The little puppy that has a reputation for being boisterous, was reportedly very well-behaved and obedient during his entire visit.

The dog, a gift from Senator Edward Kennedy and his wife Victoria, was born in a Texas Kennel, and had been returned by the previous owner because he was 'too much to handle' and did not get along with the other dogs in the house.

While its previous owners had named him Charlie, the Obama girls prefer Bo. Other names that were considered, but quickly rejected, were Moose and Frank.

The Obama girls have been searching for a puppy since the President promised it to them, during his acceptance speech. However, they had to be careful about the breed, because Malia suffers from allergies. They finally settled for the Portuguese Water Dog because it makes a good family pet and does not shed - and is extremely cute and fun to be with.

Bo joins a long line of White House dogs, who have become legends of their own. No word on whether the little mop of black and white fur will get to sleep with the Obama girls, or get his own suite at the new digs.
