World Math Day - The Countdown Has Begun!

It's time to sharpen your pencils or in this case keyboard skills and get ready for World Math Day, the annual math competition, where kids from all across the globe compete with each other, for the coveted title of World Math Champion.
The on-line challenge will start at a pre-determined time on March 3rd, for each country, and continue for 48 hours. Competitors, who can enter individually, or as a school, are allowed to play up to 500, 60-second games, with each correct answer earning a point.
To ensure that every one gets a chance to win the coveted title, the contest pool is divided into age categories: 5-8, 9-13 and14-18. This year, there is a category for adults too!
At the end of the 48-hour period, the individuals and school with the highest number of correct answers will be inducted into the Math Hall of Fame, declared World Champions and receive minted Gold Medals. A number of other prizes will also be awarded. To check the full list go to www.worldmathsday.com/2010.
During the competition, contestants can log in and out and take as many breaks as they wish - Their scores will be stored by the site, allowing them to continue where they left off, each time.
The best part is, you can start practicing right away. Simply ask your parents to register and begin playing against children your age from India, Korea, China or maybe someone in your own neighborhood - To read more, go to www.worldmathsday.com.
