Hibiki Kono A.K.A Spiderboy

Like most young boys, 13-year old Hibiki Kono always dreamt about scaling walls like his favorite Superhero, Spiderman - So, when the opportunity arose, he decided to invent his own wall climbing machine.

The youngster who attends King's Cross College at Cambridge, was inspired by a similar device built on an episode of a British Television Show, called Bang Goes The Theory.

Therefore, when asked to build a project of his choice in a technology design class, he knew exactly what to do.

He started with attaching the nozzles of two vacuum cleaners to individual pads, so that when the machines were switched on with the pads pressed tightly against the wall, a powerful suction effect would be created enabling them to 'stick' to the wall.

He then re-enforced the pads to give them increased grip and make each one strong enough to support his weight. Finally, he attached each pad to a stirrup, onto which he could rest his feet as he climbed up.

To scale the wall, Hibiki alternatively switched on the vacuum cleaners, so that one of his hands was free to scale up, while the other remained firmly suctioned to the wall.

It took the young boy five months to build this contraption, but all that hard work was well worth it, when he climbed the school wall last week, in front of his entire school. Not only was he the envy of the aspiring Superheroes at his school, but also, all across the world. His only complaint? Proud as she is, his mother will not allow him to climb the walls of his room!
