I definitely think so, too. In fact, perhaps an idea for the next big holiday would be called something like "International Cultural Appreciation Day." Some holidays that relate to this are 'World Day for Cultural Diversity for Dialogue and Development', which is celebrated on May 21st, or 'World Religion Day', which is celebrated on January 17-18th. There's also 'Celebrate Diversity Month', which has been celebrated in April since 2004. All we have to do is make these holidays more known. Spread the word, everyone! :D

Lucky you! I was born in the Year of the Sheep (or Goat, or Ram, however you'd like to interpret it). Only 11 more years to go until I experience it once more... Today was an amazing day for me - a gentle snow fell across the town, a family of birds returned to land on my window and woke me up, and my mother's just beginning to recover from her illness! Anyways, I'd love to attend your school. The very thought of being able to celebrate, let alone recognize and accept cultural differences makes me smile. Yes, you're definitely correct about the mouthwatering food and beautiful lanterns - my experience was anything beyond stunning. Ah, this time of year gets me so giddy. Black history month should have a holiday in February so we can get a day off from school to respect the people who made a difference in our world.

I was born in the Year of the Monkey, and I'm so pleased that the Year of the Monkey has rolled around again! I'm lucky to attend a school that recognizes and accepts cultural differences, and even celebrates it. As a holiday celebrated all over Asia, this holiday is spectacular - complete with mouthwatering food and beautiful lanterns - the fireworks and the shows are splendid! There are games and huge dragon "puppets" - it's really spectacular! And for any Year of the Monkey-ers like me, this is our year! Enjoy :)

For everyone born in the year of the Monkey, I wish you all the luck in the world - I think you deserve it. For everyone born in different years, I wish you fortune as well.
