Do you think I did good at writing this? The non-fiction article “Can Songbirds Hear Storms Long Before They Arrive? Some Scientist Certainly Believe So!” by Kendall Costello, is about how the golden-winged warblers can hear a storm coming before they arrive. First, the article explains how in april 2014 tornadoes struck and the songbirds flew off to florida 2 days before the tornadoes came. Second, the article talks about how Henry Streby and his team attached trackers onto 20 songbirds. His teams goal was to track the migration patterns of the birds, but instead of the birds staying in Tennessee they went to Florida for five days and returned. Next, the article says that Henry’s team investigated this mini-migration until they found out that the birds left 2 days before the storms came. After this, Henry and Gunnar Krammer theorized that the birds left the storms because of their awesome hearing. Jonathan Hagstrum says that birds have always been known as weather predictors but never because of keen hearing. Jonathan thinks that this investigation might lead to a possibility of how birds navigate around the world so well. Lastly, the articles talks about how not everyone believes it was the birds hearing. The branch of science for my article is life science. I think it is life science because it talks about living birds that can hear the sound of storms before they come. A scientist that would have done this research would be an ornithologist. An ornithologist is a person that studies birds. I know that an ornithologist would study this because says in the article that Henry Streby was an ornithologist. This shows that a scientist that would research this could be an ornithologist. This article is important to me and my community. One reason that it could help the community is that if there is a storm coming we don’t need to trust our (sometimes wrong) weather men/women. We could just have a few songbirds to tell us. I know that this could happen because in the text it says that the birds would fly away 2 days before the storm happens. Another way it could help our community is by helping us to start studying other animals for infrasound hearing. I know this is possible because it says in the article that they never knew that songbirds had infrasound hearing. This shows that they have not studied every animal for infrasound hearing. One way that this article could help me is if I had a songbird I would know if I was really going to have a snow day or not. Scientist could do more research on this subject by telling if it is actually the birds actually hear the storm or if it was just a coincidence. Also, i think the songbirds would not have been able to fly to florida and all the way back, so I think they should re-check the geo-trackers for any problems. One thing that could be improved is if they studied if other birds had infrasound hearing too. It could impact people by replacing weathermen with songbirds.

Good thing I don't need to worry about not having butter. I think they wouldn't be able to import butter becuase it might get spoiled. I have never eaten spponge cake.

This took a while to read, but I think these are very interesting and if i could choose the best it would be the bionic bird. I think the people who invented this stuff should be written in the article.
