This book is really, really great. Something I really liked about it was that it had so many references to pop culture and how it seemed so real. Something else I really liked about this book was how its main character - and narrator - is canonically gay. I found the ending very predictable, I could tell from about 100 pages in how it was going to end, but I still enjoyed the ride there. Highly recommend if you like clever and relatable stories.Over 8 years agomaddyrocks13 added a book review.
Rainbow Rowell is one of my favorite authors of all time, and this book only further proved my love for her writing. This is indisputably a romance novel, but its also so much more. These characters are real, and they have real struggles. I think teenager could enjoy this book, regardless of what they like to read, because of how likeable the characters are. Something interesting about it, also, is that its set in the 80s, and I liked seeing how life was a little different, with out the technology we have now, but also very similar, back then.Over 8 years agomaddyrocks13 added a book review.
WOW. I'd have to compare this book to that of Percy Jackson, it was that amazing. The author creates a fascinating and multi-layered world, with interesting people to go along with it. This book had me 'on the edge of my seat' the entire time, with its constantly moving and twisting plot. Something that set me slightly on edge was (warning: spoiler, but its not specific) the incest in the story. Granted, I haven't read the rest of the series yet, but just be warned, that it might make you a little uncomfortable. But that definitely doesn't mean you shouldn't read this novel, regardless, its that good.Over 8 years agomaddyrocks13 added a book review.
This manga is amazing. oh my goodness. If you've seen the anime, it has the same characters and some of the story is the same, though the anime, for the most part, splits into its own original story. The manga, on the other hand, reads much darker and also is still ongoing. It does (as well as the anime) contain a lot of violence/gore, some adult relationships, as well as some foul language and drug and alcohol use.Over 8 years agomaddyrocks13 wants to read this book.

The book Stonebird, Mike Revell's debut novel, is one of the most unique and refreshing books I've read for a long time. Something I liked a lot about this book was how it combined supernatural elements (spoiler - yes, the gargoyle is alive!) with the real world. I also loved how the plot was original and, unlike a lot of books these days, didn't feel like something I'd read before. I also really liked the writing style of this book. It's very funny - our narrator is an 11-year-old boy wise beyond his years - and also very pretty. I also liked how this book had an ending that wasn't all happy, but was happy enough and still realistic. The age recommendation on the back said for ages 10 - 12, but I think if you're a bit older, like me, you can enjoy this book as well!Almost 9 years ago
