Allyson, Abby and Lia from Rye, New Hampshire had a very productive summer - Not only did they raise about $3,000 USD for 'Moving Mountains' a charity that helps send girls in rural China to high school, but they were also declared winners of Inc. Magazine's 'Best Lemonade Stand in America' contest.

The winning stand was built over the base of an old wagon, so that the girls could tug it across the beach. In keeping with their charity name, they embellished it with 'mountains' cut from plywood and then using bright foam letters named their masterpiece 'Moving Lemonade'.

Next, they made several batches of yummy lemonade using juice from 'Real Lemon', sugar, water and ice and started to roll through the beach, selling their brew along with brownies, to the hot and hungry beach goers. On the first day they made $155USD, meeting half of their weekend goal of raising $300USD (the cost of one year's tuition). By the end of summer, the girls had amassed an astounding $1,885USD for the charity. The folks at the 'Real Lemon' company were so impressed, they added another $1,000USD to the worthy cause.

Besides the overall prize, the magazine also awarded prizes for the 'Best Story' and the 'Coolest Lemonade Stand Design'.

The prize for the 'Best Story' went to three twelve year-old siblings, Abby, Jake and Taylor, who have been setting up 'shop' across a subway station every weekend, for the last three years.

The idea for a lemonade stand came about as a way to do something fun with their dad, after he was diagnosed with a brain tumor. The young entrepreneurs who make between $75-$100 every weekend, offer their clients a choice of freshly-made lemonade, orangeade and orange juice. Twenty percent of all their profits are donated to an organization called, Brain Injury Services. They are so passionate about their business that they have set up a website - freshsqueezedlemonade.weebly.com, where they write about their weekly adventures and even offer some fun 'lemonade' games.

Alyssa's Lemonade Stand, run by Alyssa from Pennsylvania took home the prize for 'Best Design Winner''. Her professional and colorful blue and yellow stand, sports a cloth canopy, complete with lemonade shaped frog patterns. Alyssa, who donates her entire proceeds to a nearby homeless shelter, said she made over $250USD within two hours after she opened shop - must have been some amazing lemonade or maybe it was the stand!

The overall winner received a $500USD savings bond, while the other two teams took home a $250USD savings bond. All of them got the chance to visit Inc.'s New York office and also take home a DVD box set of the complete BizKid$ series, a program that features young entrepreneurs.
