Most elementary school kids learn geography, just as they learn any other subject - within the confines of the four walls of their classroom. However, if you are one of the lucky kids that goes to Kingsland Primary School in Stoke-on-Trent, in the United Kingdom, it will mean stepping onto an airplane, fastening your seatbelt and taking off to an exotic location! (using your imagination, of course).

That's because last week, Kingsland became the first school in the United Kingdom and probably the entire world to install an 82ft airplane, which will be used to conduct geography classes.

The school got the idea from one of the students, when they were strategizing on coming up with new ways to make learning fun. School officials than applied for and received the appropriate approvals and funding to purchase an old decommissioned airplane for 20,000-Pound Sterling (about $30,000 USD).

The engine-less airplane was delivered to the school grounds last week. But as you can see from the pictures there were a few minor glitches, during delivery.

While trying to maneuver the huge body into the small playground, the plane's rear hit a neighboring resident's house, breaking a window and scraping off her satellite dish. And if that wasn't enough, it then knocked off one of the lampposts in the schoolyard. However, judging from the excited expressions of the students and teachers, it was all worthwhile

The aircraft will now be fitted with its wings and re-furbished with whiteboards, desks and laptops to fit up to 30 kids at a time. The school is also planning to install solar panels on the outside so that it has its own source of energy.

And, they may even create a path from the main school building to the airplane that resembles an airport runway - after that, all that will be left to do is to fasten those seatbelts and let the imaginations take over!
