If you love comic books or simply like free stuff, you are in for a real treat. That's because tomorrow (May 2nd) is Free Comic Book Day, where participating vendors will hand out one (or more) comics to anyone who visits their stores.

The event which started in 2002, takes place on the first Saturday of May, every year, typically following the release of a superhero movie. This year's movie is X-Men Origins: Wolverine, which was released in theaters all across the country today.

While not all comic books in the store are free, there is a big enough selection to suit every taste. This year, the free comics includes special issues of Wolverine, The Savage Dragon, The Avenger, Sonic the Hedgehog, Cars and Transformers, among others. Also vendors normally sell the comic books that are not part of the promotion, at a big discount.

The event is celebrated by specialty comic book shops all across North America and even in some International countries. To find out if a store near you is participating and to look at the entire free comic book selection, go to http://www.freecomicbookday.com/comics.asp.
