A new princess is scheduled to join the elite group of Disney Princesses. Princess Tiana, the leading protagonist in the upcoming 'Princess and the Frog', will make her debut at Disneyworld and Disneyland on October 26th, 2009, starring in a limited engagement show entitled 'Tiana's Showboat Jubilee'.

Described as a 'jazz-filled riverboat extravaganza', the show will also feature other characters and music from the movie and promises to have plenty of Mardi Gras flair.

The 'Princess and the Frog', scheduled to be released in theaters on December 11th 2009, is about a young waitress and talented chef named Tiana, who dreams of owning her own restaurant. As the story unfolds, she meets her prince, Naveen who has been transformed into a frog, by an evil magician called Dr. Facilier, and that's when the movie takes an unusual turn.

Set in the French Quarter of New Orleans during the Jazz Age (1918-1930), the movie promises plenty of great music and also a return to the traditional hand-drawn animation.

Tiana is not only Disney's first African-American princess, but also the first one to be introduced since Mulan, who made her debut in 1988 - and from the sounds of it promises to be like all other Disney Princesses - beautiful, motivated and a determined young woman!
