Sarah J Maas' Throne of Glass tells the story of 18-year-old assassin Celaena Sardothien. She was once the most famous assassin in all of Adarlan. She was also a slave in the salt mines of Endovier. Now, dragged from the mines after a year of suffering by Dorian Havilliard- the crown prince of Adarlan himself, she must fight her way past some of the top thieves, warriors, murderers, and assassins, in a perilous competition to become the king's champion- and after three years of service comes the real prize- the promise of her freedom. When contestants start turning up dead, Celaena decides to hunt down the mysterious and ruthless killer, and ensure she won't be their next victim... but unbeknownst to Celana, sinister forces are at play deep within the castle- more horrifying than imaginable- and they're after her. To gain a fighting chance, she must unearth the warrior Endovier buried deep inside. Personally, I'd recommend it to middle schoolers and older. I would also recommend having the next book in the series (Crown of Midnight) on hand- you won't be able to wait to see what happens next! The plot was engaging and complex- the book was very well written! Fans of Veronica Roth's Red Queen and Keira Kass' The Selection will delight in this book! Enjoy!Over 3 years agoarmcginn replied to a comment in

Yes, under your avatar there are some tabs that say things like "My Home" and "News" and "Books"- click on "Books", this will bring you to a new page, at the top of this page there is a search bar that says "Enter book title or author name", type in the name of your book. Now the page will change again, this time you should see a ring of books in a black and orange box. Use the arrows at the top right corner of the box to find your book, select the cover of your book. the page will change one last time- this time, it will have the selected book, its name, and the name of the author. beneath the cover picture, it will have 3 options- "I want to read it", "I'm reading it now", and "I read it" it also has a place for a star rating, and review. You may revisit this page via the "Books" tab when you would like to write your review. I hope this helped, anytime! ;)Over 3 years agoarmcginn added a new comment in

Happy-go-lucky and reckless Tex McCormick loves nothing more than his horse Negrito, but one day when Negrito goes missing, Tex's world falls apart. Unsure when his dad will come home, even after months of traveling. Tex tries his hardest to stay out of trouble, but money and time are running out- will even that be enough to hold his disintegrating world together? It definitely wasn't classic-level like Hinton's other novel The Outsiders, but compared to Taming The Star Runner and Rumble Fish, it was certainly far superior. It was a quick, easy, intense, and relatable read, I would recommend it for years 13 and up.Over 3 years agoarmcginn added a new comment in
Okay... every week from now on I will share a quote about writing, reading, or just a quote from a famous author! Now, for today's Writer's Quote Wednesday quote: "Maybe this is why we read, and why in moments of darkness we return to books: to find words for what we already know ." -Alberto Manguel Follow to get more quotes PLUS some great book recommendations! This week I read the Delerium Trilogy, which I would recommend for sixth grade and up... last week's reads were S.E. Hinton's Tex and James Dashner's Mortality Doctrine series, Book 1 of Sarah J Mass' Throne of Glass series, and Shatter Me by Tahereh Mafi.Over 3 years agoarmcginnliked a comment in National Geographic Kids Book Club.
I LOVE THAT KIND OF BOOKS TOOOOO! Try reading The Darkest Minds series (The Darkest Minds, Never Fade, In The Afterlight, then the novellas, In Time, Sparks Rise, Beyond The Night. They are in a collection called Through The Dark. Finally, read The Darkest Legacy.) It is by Alexandra Bracken.Over 3 years agoarmcginn replied to a comment in
I always try to write from the heart, If it isn't a good book, my review has no heart in it (though I have felt may times that I simply can't do the book justice but hit post even though I don't think it's good enough). If it isn't A good book, sometimes I don't write a review for it. In fact, before I buy or even check out a book from the library, I often look it up on Google and read a preview there or on Libby which is a free ebook/audio book app to figure out if it's even worth my time. As Benjamin Franklin once said, "Either write something worth reading or do something worth writing."Over 3 years agoarmcginn wants to read this book.
