I seen a tiny spider climb along a web of a golden orb and attack the orb until it was paralysed within a minute. The orb was too big to ward off the tiny spider crawling all over its body. The next day all was left was the exoskeleton of the orb, which had all its innards sucked dry. Sharing my garden predominantly with golden orbs were St Andrew's cross spider who weave a large "X" where they sit centred accentuating their legs. It's believed this is to ward off animals from walking through and destroying the web made for catching insects. The decoy spider fascinated me and had me pondering if there was a link to its evolution. I wish I found the decoy spider, I would've named it St Regulus decoy spider, so fitting!
