guitarflute's book review was featured in The Giver (Cascades).
The Giver takes place is this utopian society where everything is organized and there are rules. No one is bad, rebels, or even questions the rules. This community is a bland, simple, emotionless place. When Jonas is assigned the important job of receiving memories of what the world used to be like, he considers rebelling, and soon a plan is brought together. I read this a while ago, but i think about it from time to time. The way it is written, and the plot line itself, is simply outstanding. You should read this book. And also, read the rest of the series, and tell me what they are like:)

This book shows the emotional side of the Holocaust without even giving that much detail. The book takes you through the everyday journey of Bruno, a young boy who is ignorant and naive about what bad things his father does. His father is a general of a Jewish camp, and inside the fenced place is a young boy, Shmuel. Bruno was curious one day and walked up to the fence, and met Shmuel. Bruno, although still ignorant to the pain Shmuel is going through, became friends with him. I'm not trying to spoil for you guys, so i won't say the rest of the story-line. I recommend this book for anyone who wants to see a story make more sense as you continue reading. Also, I would like to warn the readers: You will remember this book.
