If you like mystery and magic, this book is for you. Oona is back and better than ever. When a rare punchbowl is stolen from the carnival, she's on the case: because the punchbowl is key to understanding the day her mother and sister were killed.

This book was like a combination of Harry Potter and the Series of Unfortunate Events, same orphan and family dynamics. Good action and dialogue, the characters were original, but the idea of orphan looking for answers and wind up saving the world is growing slightly tedious as a storyline.

As soon as they saw it, they knew it was different. What a rollicking adventure, I loved the sarcasm and the similar dynamic to the Series of Unfortunate Events (Older sister, middle brother, younger sister. This is an ambitious read guaranteed to please.

This book resonates with the Diary of a wimpy kid novel, the idea that school is just like movies with bullies, awful teachers, and annoying siblings. It's a new year in a new city and Rafe's adventures in the last book are nothing compared to these.

This book resonates with the Diary of a wimpy kid novel, the idea that school is just like movies with bullies, awful teachers, and annoying siblings. How long does it take for one kid to break every rule for school? Rafe seems determined to find out.

The Treskis are in the middle of an all-out war over lemonade. Who will win? Jessie with her math skills? Or her people-person brother Evan? Keeps you guessing 'til the very end.

This book was a pretty fast read and resembled Children of the Lamp and Percy Jackson (but both are kind of hard to avoid when delving into the realm of mythology. The story was fast but there wasn't much character development and some missing details.

Mo is a force of nature, with luck to match. There were so many conflicts in this book that you could never get bored reading it (or re-reading). A tale about self-discovery that tilts perspective.

I really shouldn't be telling you this - but since you're so insistent... This book was fabulous, the plot had more twists than a pretzel and characters that brought everything to life. I can't wait to get my hands on the next one.

Turtle (the girl, not the animal) is one of my favorite characters in the mystery genre. She is one of the heirs to an immense fortune but there's a twist, to earn the inheritance, you must solve a word puzzle. Ingenious plot and original characters.
