Katie and the Cupcake Cure is alright. It's about this girl named Katie who's going to middle school. Sadly, her best friend Callie is now part of the "Popular Girl's Club", a group of mean, popular girls, but Katie is able to make 3 new friends. Because of Katie's love for baking cupcakes, she invites them to her own cupcake club. When the school announces a fundraiser competition, they bake cupcakes for that. Along the way, they meet challenges and strengthen the friendship bond between all of them. It's kind of fun to read, but I wouldn't recommend it.

Savvy is a super good book! It's about this girl called Mibs who's turning thirteen. And she'll get her own special ability(otherwise known as a savvy), just like her brothers. But when they discover that Father has been in a terrible accident, Mibs is determined that her savvy can save him and sneaks onto a bus to get to the hospital, along with two brothers and 2 friends. But the bus heads off in the opposite direction, and Mibs and her companions have to find a way to get out of the mess. It's really fun and exciting to read.

I enjoyed The Evolution of Calpurnia Tate a lot. It's about this girl named Calpurnia who lives with her parents, six brothers, and her grandfather in the hot summer of 1899 in Texas. As Calpurnia begins to study the natural world around her, she becomes close to her grandfather who is studying science, dodges her mother's concern of doing lady-like chores, and navigates through the dangerous path of living with her six brothers, shaping her future life and career. I thought this book was very interesting and exciting.

Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone is an awesome book! It's about a boy named Harry Potter who is living a miserable life with his cranky and horrible uncle, aunt, and their spoiled son. When he recieves a mysterious letter, he is pulled into the world of magic and discovers he is actually a wizard. He finds not only new friends and a school for wizards, but a great destiny that has been awaiting him. This is a really exciting and adventurous book, and I definitely recommend this book.

The Girl who could Fly is a really good book! It's about this girl named Piper who can fly, and because of this, she is sent away to a secret school for children with extraordinary powers. Piper likes the school, but soon discovers things at the school aren't as they seem and that it's actually a dangerous place to be in. Piper and the other children must escape from the school to protect themselves and their powers. It's an exciting adventure to read about, and I definitely recommend this book.

Counting by 7s is a good book. It's about a girl named Willow who, as a genius and a love for the environment, has trouble fitting in with other kids and people. Then unexpectedly, her parents die, leaving her in a troubling situation. She stays with a courageous friend named Mai and her family that she met earlier, and makes friends with a taxi driver and a counselor for the school district. When Mai's family moves to Dell's apartment room in the Gardens of Glenwood, which does not look like a garden at all, Willow plants a garden that changes the Gardens of Glenwood. With the help of her friends, she is able to pass the hard things in her life and go on with a new beginning. I wouldn't recommend it, but it is kind of interesting and inspiring.

Scat is a great book. It's about how a boy and a girl, Nick and Marta, are trying to solve a mystery about their biology teacher going missing in a field trip at the swamp. Everyone suspects a kid called Smoke had something to do with their teacher's disappearance. Later, Nick and Marta realize that he does, but not in the way that they think. Determined to solve the mystery, they investigate more and are pulled into an adventure at the swamp including an oilman, a man who camps in the swamp, and a panther. It's a really exciting mystery book, and I enjoyed it.

I enjoyed Chomp a lot. It's about this kid named Wahoo who pretty much has a zoo in his backyard because his dad is an animal wrangler. Then his dad takes a job with a reality-TV show called Expedition Survival to keep the pudgy star of the show, Derek Badger, from being killed by the animals he messes with. When they go to the Everglades to make a new episode, a girl named Tuna comes along to escape from her crazy dad. When Derek gets lost in a storm and Tuna's dad comes looking for Tuna with a gun, it brings chaos, and it's up to Wahoo and Tuna to try to settle everything. It's really exciting and I liked the book.
