This book is about a little kid named Kek who is from Africa and has been through a lot. He had to go to a refugee camp during a war but the camp was invaded, and he lost people he loved. He moves to America to live with his cousin and aunt, and works on a farm. He has a hard time adjusting to America and thinks Americans take things for granted. This book might make you sad, and it makes you think about the things we take for granted. It made me cry, it’s very emotional, and it makes me realize how much we have in America.About 5 years agolmhewlett added a book review.
This book is about a little boy named Spencer who doesn’t like to read. He’s given a magic stone that sends him into whatever story he’s reading. He reads a story with a dinosaur, and is sent into that story. During his time there, he helps the characters in the story. This book is pretty good. The characters have a lot of personality, but I didn’t feel satisfied at the end. I would recommend this book though.About 5 years agolmhewlett has read this book.

In this book, Harvey and Wendall are two kids who are really bored, and are taken to a house during holiday. They discover that the house has magic. They try to escape the house, but discover that everything in the house are illusions, including the people. Every day in the house was a year. Another character, Mr. Hood, is trying to persuade Harvey to become his Apprentice by giving him what he desires, but Harvey refuses. The book is interesting, it can be scary with lots of weird creatures. But, this may be a good experience for readers to inspire them to read fantasy titles. Fantasy books are special. *Warning* there is some language in this book...but it is still a good book.About 5 years agolmhewlett added a book review.

This book is about Bud...he’s a very smart 10 year old and has a big imagination. He’s an orphan and a foster kid. Bud runs away and meets Lefty Lewis and Herman E. Calloway...who turns about to be a part of his family. He thinks Lefty Lewis is a vampire. Bud keeps his emotions and possessions all in his suitcase, and keeps everything to himself. This is a really good but sometimes long book. It does have one bit of strong language. We would recommend this book.About 5 years agolmhewlett added a book review.
This book is about Henry, Violet, Benny, and Jessie - they are orphans. These kids are working in the bakery, but they are forced to find somewhere else to go. They find a boxcar to live in and they learn to take care of themselves. This book is awesome because it’s surprising and full of excitement. It keeps you wanting more.About 5 years agolmhewlett has read this book.
