Once upon a time, in the land of Cornucopia lived King Fred the fearless, everyone was happy and the food was delicious, there was nothing to be afraid of, well, except for one thing, the Ickabog. The Ickabog was said to be as tall as two horses and with eyes like glowing lamps! But that was just a tale. One day King Fred the Fearless announced that he would be going on a journey to the Marshlands to find the Ickabog! Of course because the Ickabog was just a tale, some people laughed at him and thought he was crazy! But before we go on an adventure to the Marshlands let me first introduce you to Lord Spittelworth and Lord Flapoon, who, as the King says, are his best friends, but really, he doesn't know them very well, because Lord Spittelworth and Lord Flapoon are really only pretending to be his friend. When King Fred the Fearless and his crew arrived at the Marshlands everything suddenly... changed. The lush green grass withered into brown dry grass, the sheep were so skinny, and everyone was unhappy. The King was overwhelmed and hurried along to find the Ickabog. When they reached the area where the Ickabog was spotted at everything turned wrong. The King's men got stuck in the marsh, and the King himself got stuck, but the worst part was when the King spotted the Ickabog and dropped his sword. So, he asked his best friends to go and retrieve it for him. But then one of them gets frightens and accidentally shoots Major Beamish! Oh no, what a pity, I will just have to make it seem like the Ickabog did it, and can you guess who would have most likely said it? Of course, Lord Spittelworth. And so he used this advantage to frighten the land of Cornucopia into thinking that the Ickabog was real! And soon people had to close their shops down, and the land of Cornucopia started to crumble, the people grew poor and couldn't support their families so they had to put their children in an orphanage. This is when Bert and Daisy come in, they try saving the Land of Cornucopia, but, I can tell you, it was not not easy. I enjoyed this book a lot and my takeaway was to not judge others by mere appearances, but by their hearts. Or in a way you could say, "Don't judge a book by it's cover!" I hope you do decide to read this wonderfully written book by J.K. Rowling, Happy Reading!
