Is there a definite definition for the word “love”? I don’t think so. Nicholas Sparks, who had been writing romances, brought a typical love story into a deeper journey. Allie came from a wealthy family yet Noah was just a poor guy that lived with his dad. They had an unforgettable love affair during a lovely summer when they were young and wild even though they came from two distinct worlds. Allie had to leave New Bern after summer ends and her parents disagreed their relationship. Years later, they met again. Although Allie was engaged and they seemed to become strangers, the summer they spent with their dynamic and passionate love had never fade away in each other’s mind. Allie determined to chose who she really love with her heart. As they grew older, Allie was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s. Noah didn’t gave up on her and kept reading their story of love even though she could probably kept none of the memories. Even she did, miracles never lasted for a long time. Here’s where I personally think true love was actually shown. When she wasn’t young and beautiful anymore, he still loved her with his soul and his life. I believe true love doesn’t necessarily have to be hot and memorable, but it should be timeless and unconditional.

This is the third book of the companion of the dystopian novel The Giver. Matty lived in a flourished village that was different from the one took place in the book Gathering Blue. Matty had grown from a mischievous boy to a young adult that took care of the Seer, a blind old man with special sights. As the village prospered, the villagers seemed to lost themselves. They were trading their deepest selves to get what they desired. This seemed to be effective and a warning to the readers. We often see what we desire, but we often left behind or forgot what we really own in our souls. Meanwhile, ominous changes were occurring in the forest. Matty had to bring Kira, who was the Seer’s daughter, to the village, or else the forest would thicken and kept the outsiders out of the village. Before Matty began his journey, the Leader told him that his had a gift, or some sort of magical power, in his soul. While Matty was going through the journey, the forest didn’t stop thickening. Matty was finding himself during the journey and didn’t give up although they were unlikely going to survive through the way. I love this book, because it offered me the confidence to find myself and be who I am.

This book seemed to be a childish and shallow book when I first saw the cover. As I read, I realized I was wrong. Honestly, the words this book used aren’t hard at all. They can be understood easily. However, deeper behind the words, there’re a lot more meanings beyond. The four kids in the Black Belt Club have distinct personalities. Max wasn’t confident about himself at the very beginning, but as he fought against their enemies with the three other karate students, he found himself and his bravery. The four karate students’ hearts also came together at the end and, they successfully defeated their enemies. This motivated me to keep up what I believe and my perseverance to fight until the end. Even though this story has a typical good versus evil theme, it taught us the importance of keeping the balance of everything. In my personal opinion as an example, a life without goals is boring, aimless, and wasted, but a life full of expectations will be too stressed and tired. This story can be inspirational to people that are feeling low, helpless, and uncertain about themselves. You might not succeed if you try hard, but you will never know you can if you never give it a shot, try hard, do your best, and give up your best effort and spirit.

The Great Gatsby is personally too deep for me to understand and dissolve all of it. This story was based on the Jazz Age, when the rich and fabulous were having marvelous parties after World War I. I like Jordan Baker the most in this story, because even though she is cynical, I think she was wise and knew a lot of things. Daisy was the person I don’t admire the most. Although she was beautiful and men were infatuated by her, but I feel like she was just a pretty shell without a deep soul. Her desires weren’t realistic and she was greedy. However, she reminded me and taught me to not become someone that resembles her. I saw there are a lot of things that weren’t reveal. I learnt that the world is make up of greed, lies, and insidiously and undoubtedly, reality. It’s hard to face the truth that people are actually selfish creatures that often think about themselves. People are fickle, like plants, we often choose the way that benefit us the most. It might sound disappointed and dark, but sadly and truly, it’s the truth.
