When a BIG, lovable, does-it-her-way dog wiggles her way into the heart of a loudmouth pipsqueak of a boy, wonderful things happen that help him become a bigger, better person. With its diverse cast, authentic narrator, and perfect blend of spot-on middle-grade humor, drama, and wisdom, this powerful debut is relatable, funny, bittersweet, and full of heart.

Timminy knows that moving to a new town just in time to start middle school when you are perfect bully bait is less than ideal. But he gets a great consolation prize in Maxi—a gentle giant of a dog who the family quickly discovers is deaf. Timminy is determined to do all he can to help Maxi—after all, his parents didn't return him because he was a runt. But when the going gets rough for Timminy, who spends a little too much time getting shoved into lockers at school, Maxi ends up being the one to help him—along with their neighbor, Abby, who doesn’t let her blindness define her and bristles at Timminy’s “poor-me” attitude. It turns out there’s more to everyone than what’s on the surface, whether it comes to Abby, Maxi, or even Timminy himself.

My teacher lent this book to me. I thought it was kinda sad, but its really nice too. Also, who goes in fifth grade and calls it middle school??

Have you ever wanted a dog or had one? well the main character in the book "Maxi's Secret" Written by Lynn Plourde did and when he finally got one they realized that Maxi was deaf. They just moved to a new neighborhood and Maxi was his only friend, until a blind girl comes around and she loves Maxi and turns out Maxi loves her too! They soon become friends and have crazy adventures together, like the time when Maxi got hurt by a porkipine . Timminy is so worried about he can't stop thinking about her. I like this book because I love animals and you never get bored reading it,like when Maxi got hurt I wanted to read on. one great message is "There is nothing so bad in the world that dog kisses won't fix.". The main character, Timminy and his deaf dog Maxi have a lot of adventures. They just moved into a new neighbor hood and only have each other. soon he makes a new friend and have a lot of fun along with Maxi. But Timminy has an enemy too. Meanwhile Maxi is having a hard time because she is really sick, and Timminy can't stop wondering about her. What is the point of view in this book?

Maxi's Secret is a fantastic book about a short boy moving to a new state, and a new school. He knows he probably won't have many friends, if not any friends, so he asks he parents if he can get a dog. This book is an emotional roller coaster with its ups and downs, happy and sad moments, and overall is a fantastic book and I recommend it to everyone reading this.

This book is so heartfelt, and I would definitely recommend this book to any dog lovers. Maxi Rocks!! ;)

LOOVEDOGS LOOVEDOGS

I love this book I started to cry at the end. I have two dogs and all my friends love them.

loveanimals? loveanimals?

I am reading this book with a group and have 15 chapters to go. So far it reminds me of the Diary of a Wimpy kid movies, but with more thought and heart. Kids will enjoy the characters but most importantly the puppy named Maxi who wiggles into your heart like she does for Timminy. There are many topics and things you can reflect on in this book. The lessons go beyond the pages and can be applied to life. Vocabulary and phrases may need some explaining for younger readers. Adults and young readers will enjoy this book. Can't wait to finish.... or can I ??? When you know something bad is going to happen (They reveal in Ch 1 Maxi dies but not from what or how) I am kind of torn.
