FishEyes Makes Fishing Fun And Productive

By Meera Dolasia on June 22, 2011

The sport of fishing requires a lot of patience and time. That's because once the line is thrown in, there is very little a fisherman can do, but wait and hope that a succulent Bass or Flounder will not only glide by, but also, take the bait.

Now, a new fishing rod manufactured by California-based NextSport takes the guesswork out of the process, by allowing fishermen to view the scenery after the line is tossed in. Dubbed FishEyes, it replaces the traditional fishing line with 20 feet of a combination of analog video and power cable. A small waterproof camera equipped with LED light attached to the bottom end transmits any underwater action to a monitor affixed to the top of the line.

To this hi-tech contraption, the fisherman can add fishing lure or bait basket to try entice the fish nearby or, if there are none, simply move to a more populated spot. The best part is, that FIshEyes is a fun gadget for even those who don't like to fish - kind of like scuba diving without going through the hassle!

While FishEyes, which retails at about $80USD can technically be used for fishing off a boat, there is a slight risk of losing the video camera should it get caught up in a rock or inadvertently cut off by a fish. But, given that it makes life so much easier and fun for those involved, it may be well worth taking the risk.

I'm so upset that when people talk about fish they only talk about fishing or eating fish. I don't like the taste of fish and refuse to eat it because they could be wild caught and I don't like the taste.
