Indians love festivals! Not a month goes by without a celebration. But none are as fun as Holi, the festival of color. Held annually at the beginning of spring on the day after a full moon, this year's festival happens to be today - March 27th, 2013.

India is known for many colorful and fun festivals. But none are as popular as Diwali, a festival that spans over five-days and extends across many cultures and beliefs. It is therefore not surprising that the ancient observance, which is also referred to as Deepavali, (row of lights) is the biggest and most eagerly awaited of all Indian celebrations.
India's Holi Festival Welcomes Spring With Vibrant Bursts Of Color
Holi, India's joyous festival of colors is one of the most anticipated celebrations in the Hindu calendar. While the ritual stems from Hindu mythology, the day is observed with as much abandon by non-Hindu's as well. Celebrated annually on the last full moon day of the lunar month Phalguna, the date of the festival varies. This year's event took place on March 6th. As per tradition, millions of Indians residing in the subcontinent and overseas took to the streets early in the morning. Chanting "Holi Hai" (It's Holi) they showered everyone, strangers, and friends, with vibrant colors.Join Class
