Are Affectionate Tourists Harming Endangered Florida Manatees?

Manatees or sea cows as they are often called are large rotund marine animals that can weigh as much as 1,000 pounds. But despite their enormous size, the mostly herbivorous animals have no blubber to protect them from chilly winter waters. Hence, every winter, the gentle giants seek out warmer waters. For the approximately 6,000 Florida manatees that reside in the Gulf of Mexico it means heading to the balmy 72°F waters of the roughly one-acre Three Sisters Spring in Florida's Crystal River National Wildlife Refuge.

14 Years Later, America Remembers The Tragic Events Of September 11, 2001

September 11, 2015 marks the 14th anniversary of one of the most tragic days in America's history. On that fateful day in 2001, almost 3,000 innocent civilians lost their lives to one of the most brazen and deadliest terrorist attacks on American soil. Organized by Islamic extremist organization Al Qaeda and its leader Osama Bin Laden, it led to the ongoing "Global War On Terrorism", and changed life as we knew it, forever.

It was. Sad, but it lit something in people's hearts and they helped those who had lost family or had just barely escaped themselves.

It's so sad how so many people died just so some terrorist group could make a point, even though that point was completely foolish.

Forming Cliques Is Not Just A Human Trait - Baboons Do It Too!

The human tendency to gravitate towards people that are similar to them starts early. In school-age children, the behavior called homophily, or 'love of the same' often has to do with how others dress or act. Adults tend to form groups based on social stature, professions or personalities. Turns out that forming cliques and shutting out those that are "different" is not just a human trait. South Africa's Chacma or Cape baboons display similar tendencies as well!

I liked that it was about that cilques can be harmful to humans and animal. It was a cool selection about cliques. I think cliques are harmful because the people or animals that are in the cilque is who they share with.
