On August 1st, four adventurers set off on a 32,000-kilometer epic journey that will take them from London's Excel Marina all the way to the world famous Sydney harbor and then to their final destination, Auckland. Their mode of transport? A Seadoo GTX 155 Personal Watercraft, commonly known as a Jet Ski.

Aptly dubbed 'The Ultimate Ride', it is expected to take over four months along some of the world's most treacherous stretches of water and when completed, will set a new record for the longest ride aboard a personal watercraft. Led by pilot turned adventurer, Jeremy Burfoot, the team also includes Croatian Ivan Otulich, the recordholder for the longest distance covered on a Jet Ski, in 24 hours.

Jeremy Burfoot is no stranger to long Jet-Ski rides either - In 2006, he became the first person to circumnavigate New Zealand, aboard one, to raise awareness and funds for cancer research. By travelling the iconic London to Sydney route, through some of Europe's most famous waterways and then across the Indian Ocean, he hopes to raise further awarness and even more money for cancer research.

Even though the men will be docking at pre-designated areas every night, the journey is not expected to be easy, for they will be facing not just challenging weather conditions, but also, shark and pirate infested waters, as well as, language barriers. They will however, get a lot of help from volunteer support crews, especially in the waters of vast and treachorous Bay of Bengal.

While not all of us can have as much fun as these guys, thanks to modern technology we can at least follow their progress and read about their daily adventures on their website london-sydney.com.
