Think grandparents are too old to have talent? - Don't tell that to the organizers of the 'Super Grandmother and Super Grandfather' contest. For they have been holding the event for many years now, and so far, have not been disappointed!

The annual event, which allows only people over seventy years of age to compete, is held at the Ktharisis Charity House in Tbilisi, Georgia. It was started to showcase and fulfill the childhood dreams of seniors who are either too old, or not motivated enough, to participate in other contests.

While the contestants may be old, their talent is nothing to sniff at -They are often accomplished musicians who can play instruments ranging from the accordion to the flute and guitar, as well as, sing and dance quite superbly. In fact, some of them are so good that they are even invited to television shows to perform with local celebrities.

This year's contest which was held on January 5th, attracted 24 contestants, including 72-year-old Lira Arubuli, who impressed the judges with her spiffy dancing, and 70-year old Vakhtang Goguadze who played some sweet tunes on his flute.

However, it was the beautiful voice of 80-year old Tsuri Kakabadze, accompanied by accordion music from the 77-year old Yuri Merabov that impressed the judges the most, earning them the title of 'Super Grandmother' and 'Super Grandfather' of the year.

But the results do not really matter in this fun competition, where contestants just come to have some fun and fulfill their lifelong desire to perform on stage. I think contests like this should be held all over the world - Don't you?
