Hi everyoneeee - um, what books are you reading? I'm finishing "To Kill a Mockingbird" by Harper Lee - it's a classic... and um, if you're interested, I have a few words to say about the book, since this is a book club, right? :) Well, people who read "To Kill a Mockingbird" are kind of divided - whether the author is praising racism or trying to discourage racism. Honestly, the book isn't ONLY about racism -- it's about overcoming rumors and appearances and prejudice to discover who a person is inside. The most interesting storyline was about a character (not mentioning name, spoilers!) who was targeted with rumors that he had murdered his parents, and everyone in the town either avoided him or targeted him.. but little did they know that he was just terrified after his parents' deaths, because it wasn't him who had done it at all.. It made me angry when I found out that people thought that he was a murderer only based on rumours - people will believe anything. He was just lonely and scared and he was feeling terrible about himself, and that's honestly how I feel sometimes. So Lesson of the Week: Don't judge someone based on rumors or appearances or even first impressions. Look a little deeper :)

It wasn't by J. K. Rowling, it was by two hired writers - Jack Thorne and John Tiffany, I believe. It's a little misleading because J. K. Rowling's name is so big on the cover, but if you look next to her name, it says "Based on a story by.." don't know if you know that already, but.. yeah, not by J. K. Rowling.

I agree that the writers kinda overstepped their boundaries with the whole Delphi storyline and they exaggerated everything so much that it honestly made me kind of upset. Harry Potter is supposed to be complicated, but not overdone - and it's supposed to be simple, with a simple message, so that everything comes together in the end. This book? It left me confused.

Hi @smithers2000! Sorry I didn't see any of your comments before - I totally agree with everything you say too! Wow, I'm glad people aren't upset with us - I am a Potterhead through and through and even though this book was disappointing, I hope people understand that we're still Potterheads and we'll always be, right?

Indeed, it was. There seems to be even more hatred in this world lately. What ever happened to peace through understanding? Any remains of hope and harmony are left in the wistful eyes of our generation, as we watch society crumble all around us. These past few years, the news has spoken of nothing but chaos. In the local newspapers, I've read up on gun violence, school shootings, terrorism, The list goes on, which just goes to show what has become of the human race. Have we no morals, no sense of right and wrong? It's frightening to think that there's no longer a safe haven for any of us; that our planet is gradually transforming into some sort of battlefield. As painful as it is to admit, felicisowl is absolutely right - we have met the enemy, and he is us. Those of us with the decency to see the need for a change, with the courage to step up and make a difference, I need you to come out of the shadows. Together, we can remind the world that it is still possible to unite as one before it's too late. How are we going to do that, you ask? Simple. We'll give 'em something they won't see coming - love. I know, I know. It sounds completely ridiculous, and even kinda lame. But fortune favors the bold, and as quoted by John Paul Jones, "it seems to be a law of nature, inflexible and inexorable, that those who will not risk cannot win." So tell me, are you willing to take a risk and take a stand? Better yet, prove it. I challenge all you fellow Dogo users to join me in this movement. We can do it, and we shall! Spread the word, everyone - we're gonna need as many people as we can get! This will be a war fought without artillery, but instead, with affection. :D
