Siblings Sadie and Carter Kane are set with the mission of finding the old god Ra, and making him king of the gods again, to overcome the god of chaos, Apophis. To do so they have to steal from a museum, go to Russia and fight a two-headed snake, and travel through the Twelve Houses of Night. There they have to say the secret name of a god, find the old form of Ra, play a game named senet with the god moon god Khonsu, and fight against a magician that supports Apophis. I overall enjoyed the book and recommend it.

America Singer is still part of the Selection, but after what happened to her friend Marlee, and almost having to leave the Selection, she is not the same as before. I believe this book was better than the Elite, but not better than the Selection. In the Elite, Maxon tells her that he likes her, and that he would like her to be with him, meaning that she would just have to tell him she loves him to end the Selection, yet at the beginning of the book she is trying to seduce him, which is pointless. She thinks many times about telling Maxon that she loves him, yet never says so, because according to her, she is afraid, since once she says the words, there is no taking them back. We encounter another scene where she has trouble keeping a decision too, which makes us question whether or not she would make a good queen. If only her character were different, the book would be more enjoyable.

After an unsuccessful attempt at trying to get a magic scroll to defeat Apophis, the Kanes learn that rogue magicians are working with him. After convincing Osiris to let a dead magician go with them to defeat Apophis, they split up, with Sadie and Walt going to find their friend Bes' soul, and Carter and Zia going to find the Book of Tooth with the prisoner. After being tricked and ending in the Duat, they are saved by Sadie, and together they fight along with some of the senile gods against some demons. When they are able to leave, they arrive to Giza, and fight against Apophis, eventually defeating him. This book is fast paced with a good plot and interesting characters.

fany13's book review was featured in The Hunger Games.
After Katniss Everdeen's young sister is chosen to participate in the Hunger Games -- an annual fight to the death that is televised -- she volunteers to go in her place. While in the arena -- the place where the fighting happens -- she befriends Rue, a fellow tribute from District 11. After Rue is killed, Katniss goes to find Peeta to win the Games together. After the last contestant is dead, and Katniss and Peeta are the only ones left, Katniss decides to commit suicide, since they had been told halfway trough the Games that two tributes from the same district could win. Just before they swallow poisonous berries, they are announced as winners. An incredible book that everybody should read.

Katniss Everdeen and Peeta Mellark are on the Victory Tour while uprisings are occurring in many districts. After coming back to District 12, Katniss learns from two runaways from District 8 that there are rumors that the supposedly destroyed District 13 is actually inhabited. When the 75th Hunger Games announce that the tributes for that year will be winners from past Games, Katniss and Peeta are forced to fight again. While in the arena, they make alliances, but after an escape attempt goes wrong and destroys the arena, Katniss is carried off to District 13 while Peeta is kidnapped by the Capitol. An incredible book, which I liked, although not as much as the first one.

The final installment in the Hunger Games trilogy, this book describes Katniss' life in District 13. While there, Katniss manipulated into becoming the Mockingjay, the symbol of the revolution. After a mission, Peeta is rescued, although he believes Katniss to be evil and tries to kill her. Later in the book Katniss kills Coin. This is a heart-breaking book that teaches people to be brave. I am glad that so many people like this series as much as I do.

After Percy Jackson discovers he is a demigod -- half human, half god -- he goes on an adventure across the United States to get to the Underworld, recover the stolen master lighting bolt and rescue his mother. This book is filled with adventure funny dialogue, and lots of sarcasm. Percy is a lovable character, and he is well written, three-dimensional character. I loved the secondary characters too. The ending chapters were totally unexpected, but well-received. The rest of the saga is just as good as the first book.
