Travel Team is about 12 year Danny Walker, an amazing basketball player. He has always been the smallest on the court but at the same time he was one of the best. So when Danny gets cut from his 7th grade travel team, the same team his NBA star father, Richie Walker lead to victory, Danny is devastated. Richie soon comes to visit but finds out he will be staying, to create his own team. The team may run into rivalry's but they are also giving the underdogs a chance for once. I would recommend this book to anyone who can relate to being the underdog or who plays basketball their selves.

Capricorn Anderson had never watched a TV before, had only eaten home-grown food, had never used a lock or a locker, practices tai chi and non violence, and had never heard of a wedgie. I selected this book because I like funny books where the past and the present combine. This book is about a boy raised by his hippie grandmother on the Garland Farms commune. When his grandmother is hospitalized, he is sent to a real school for the first time in the 21st century. Some of my favorite parts are people's descriptions of Cap when they first meet him. “The instant I saw him standing there with all that hair and all those beads, I just knew. Garland Farm. It had to be. Nobody else looked like that. Nobody had looked like that since 1970.” “I looked at Capricorn Anderson, … about to step into a world that had forgotten the sixties except for J.F.K. and the Beatles.” “His clothes looked like pajamas – homemade pajamas. And his shoes were something out of a social studies project on the pioneer days. They were sandals woven out of cornhusks,...” The most exciting part of this novel is when Cap drives the school bus to the hospital. Both me and the main character, Cap, are in 8th grade and go to schools where bullying is an issue. This book helps you understand the side of the student being bullied in a humorous way. I highly recommend this book to anyone that likes funny twists on everyday life.

The book Child Called It is a very interesting. This book is about a little boy named Dave that gets beat by his mom every single day, he struggles though eating, stabbing, and getting beating. My favorite passage in this book is when the little boy Dave got to finally got to go out side and play with his little brother. The connection i have with the book is my dad used to help me with the dishes all the time when i needed the help.I think this book i very inspiring to me cause i notice theres allot of kids that go though that kind abuse in there life. The child called is based on a true story cause the author is the one this is all that is happening to. So this book i realistic fiction. I recommend this book to allot of people that like really sad books cause it is very heart touching and very inspiring. And that is why i choose this book.
