Do you want to read a truly amazing book? If so you should read Code of Honor by Alan Gratz. The setting takes place in Phoenix, Arizona. The protagonist is Kamran. The antagonist is kamran’s own brother Darius. His mother is from Iran but that doesn't help but prove him more to be a terrorist. One conflict is His family is going through the worst of anything they can think of their eldest son is accused of being a terrorist! Another conflict is an On camera Threats and attacks on the United States. The only way to save him and his brother are secret codes used as kids. The turning point is when Kamran a 17 year old boy uses the codes to solve it all. Is his brother really a terrorist. Darius Only went to military academies to learn national secrets. Kamran was taken away by homeland security. I loved this book because it is very unpredicted.

A lot of the time people don't think about how it would feel to have someone in your family with autism. In the book Rules by Cynthia Lord the main character is Catherine, a twelve year old girl who desperately wants a normal life, but it seems impossible when you have a brother with autism. Catherine tries many things to help her brother David, like making rules for him to follow. Another conflict in this book along with have an autistic brother is Catherine tries her best to make friends like Kristi, her new next door neighbor but to Catherine's surprise she makes a friend named Jason, a boy that she never expected to be friends with. Catherine is the protagonist in this book and David and Catherine's parents are the antagonists. David can't help that he has autism but Catherine wants a normal life so bad it makes it hard on her. Her parents don't seem to understand how hard it is for her and seem to give all of their attention to David. The turning point in this book is when Catherine tries to learn how to accept her brother for who he is… But will she ever fully learn how to accept him? The setting in Rules is in Maine during the summer around Catherine's house, her friends house and her neighborhood. I really recommend you read this book! It gives you great perspective on Catherine's life and can be very relatable for someone in middle school.

What if there were Aliens that tried to inhabit our planet within our close future. That is why Ender’s Game was made. It is about a 6 year old named Ender Wiggin who is one of the smartest kids on the planet. Who was only able to be born if he was to be sent into space. To be trained to be a International Space Fleet Commander(ISF). Because of the Aliens that attacked about 3 years before he was born. So he is sent up to space and is encountered by one of his mortal enemies. His name,Bernard who was the acted as the leader but they always fought anyway. That is is until he meets Alai who is the bridge between Bernard and Ender’s rivalry. So everyone thought of Alai like a leader. The antagonists are the Aliens and Bernard while the protagonist is Ender. The two major conflicts are fighting off all of the aliens when someone lies and tells him it's all a game. So Ender wouldn't feel bad about killing a whole race but he found out anyway. The other is dealing with Bernard and the other bullies that follow Bernard. I like this book because it seems futuristic and cool how they train and get ready to fight the aliens.

Cirque Du Freak is a great series; It is about a middle school boy named Darren Shan. Darren one day at recess was playing soccer what he does every day with his friends when he finds a ticket to a illegal freak show on the ground. Called Cirque Du Freak. Darren and his friends don't know what to do because it is an illegal ticket but Darren and his best friend Steve end up going. But while going to the show Darren and Steve both know they are putting their family and themselves in danger. Darren is the protagonist and antagonist. Because he causes problems for himself and other people. And he also fixes the problems and is the main person. The setting takes place in a lot of different places because he travels around a lot. And a turning point is when he takes a very deadly home from the show. I think this is a great book for anyone in Jr high and I recommend everyone to read it.

Of Mice and Men: Summary Have you ever wondered what it would be like to work on a ranch during the Great Depression in the early 30’s? Then, Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck would be a good book for you. This book takes place in the Salinas Valley in California. The protagonists (or two main characters), are Lennie and George. They are two guys who wander around work on a ranch, then another, and another. This is what was called jumpers. Their dream is to own a farm for themselves. Sometimes the world isn't so nice though. One conflict is that Lennie is a special man, that has trouble remembering stuff, this is a problem that they face throughout the whole book. Another conflict is that Lennie is very strong, and not good with small animals. The turning point is when they find a farm that pays good money. They think by working there for a month, they can save up enough to get their land. Although things get heated between Lennie and the antagonist; Curley. This book is very fast paced and has a few swears, but overall, the message is that even the best intentions don’t always end well. Of Mice and Men is my favorite book and hope it will be yours too.
