“Sophie had waited all her life to be kidnapped.” I like this book! It seemed like a Disney-type story but with lots, I mean LOTS of action. And with the drawings? This should be Disney-fied. It’s the perfect middle-grade fantasy. There was action, adventure and love. Basically, this book is about these two girls, Sophie and Agatha. They live in a town where, every twelve years, two children get kidnapped by the “School Master” and go to the School For Good and Evil. This book was great! It was light and fluffy, just the type of book you want to read during final exam week. *Sigh* CHARACTERS- Sophie and Agatha were the two main characters. I really liked Sophie’s character development throughout the novel. And Agatha too! Making mistakes then learning from them is key for Agatha in this book. SETTING The overall setting for this novel is great! I really liked the ‘fairy-tale’ theme going on. To have how characters in fairy tales developed is very interesting to me… Overall, I liked this book. It was action-y and fairy-tale-y that I instantly fell in love with this one! Four stars from me! I received an early release copy of the paperback version of this book from DogoBooks, this has not influenced my opinion.

The Blackthorn Key... phew. Can I just say how much I loved this book? It had everything I wanted, mystery, suspense, adventure. Everything is carefully planned and detailed. And then there’s this big reveal at the end. And Kevin Sands’s writing is the absolute B.E.S.T CHARACTERS- Christopher was the best! He is such a strong and loyal friend. He was funny and smart. I really liked Christopher’s backstory; I especially liked how he thinks well of his master. Tom was hilarious! He is so kind and loyal to Christopher even when Christopher is off doing something stupid. Characters? Bravo! SETTING- I really liked the time period in this novel. The 1600’s is an era that is not mentioned so much in books these days. And London! Oh, I love how London is set out for this novel! In all, bravo! This book was AMAZING in many different ways. I am so glad I happened to stumble upon this book! 5 stars from me!

I love mythology. To be honest, Rick Riordan’s book made me love it. So when I saw this new “Rick Riordan Presents” ARC I had to request it. And based on the high demand on this particular ARC, I would say I got pretty lucky. ASATEOF was beautiful in many different ways. I was so excited to see that a middle grade mythology novel is based on Hindu mythology. #WENEEDMOREDIVERSEBOOKSINOURLIVES But, Aru Shah maybe, kind of had a bit of flaws. I shall now arrange this in a pros and cons order- PROS- What I really liked about this novel is the mythology. The Hindu mythology was something new to find in middle grade novels, AND I LOVED IT. The humor in Aru Shah was HILARIOUS! (Wow Lana, the humor was hilarious) There is something though….we’ll just leave it for the cons. The characters were really interesting. I l oved how Roshani Chokshi gave them different personalities. I loved them so much, I wished that I can just hop in and join them on their adventure. I really liked Aru. I loved how she was smart and adventurous. For a girl like Mini, Aru Shah was a perfect sister. Mini was so adorable. Her personality stood out from all the other characters from different books. Mini was truly special! CONS- This is going to be a really short list, so listen carefully… The jokes and references in this book were a bit exaggerated. Ok, I laughed at most of them, but in the middle of a fight, a joke irritates me. Oh! Another thing, the author says that Aru is feeling mad or sad, but she says something a mad person wouldn’t say. When you feel mad, do you usually crack a joke? I don’t think so. In all, I liked this book. There were a few “things” that really upset me. ASATEOF had a bright future, but had a bit of a rough trip. 3 stars from me! Not bad! I received an ARC from DogoBooks; this has not influenced my opinion.

mybooksandi's book review was featured in I Survived the Children’s Blizzard, 1888 (I Survived #16).
“A deadly blizzard raged across the prairie, and eleven-year-old John Hale was trapped in a frozen nightmare.” I Survived; The Children’s Blizzard, 1888 is a beautiful masterpiece. I am a huge fan of Historical Fiction. Give me anything Historical fiction and I will surely read it on the spot. The I Survived series in particular is made up of many children that survived historical disasters. This I Survived book is 108 pages long. It was a quick read for me, probably took me a day to finish. After I read this novel, it got me interested in The Children’s Blizzard. And, WOW, people actually made houses out of mud! ***CHARACTERS*** John- John’s life is pretty dang interesting. What I really like is that even though John isn’t necessarily a real person, but someone his age actually experienced what he did. And who knows? Maybe the real kid’s name is John Hale. Oh! And how can I forget when John is looking for his little sister, Franny, in the cold? That was heart-breaking, and it got me on the edge of my seat. ***SETTING*** I ADORE the detail in the setting so much! It is just so interesting to see how people actually lived in 1888. It is even more interesting to see how young children actually survived a brutal snow storm.   In all, I really liked this book. I am sure now that I will read every I Survived novel. Lauren Tarshis’s writing is accurate and enjoyable! Five stars from me! I received this copy of I Survived; The Children’s Blizzard, 1888 from DogoBooks, this has not influenced my opinion.
