There is a boy who has his companion Sounder, he loves his father and mother and with some young ones they live in a small cabin. They aren’t slaves but they still have to do field work and get walnuts to sell at the general store for the absolute necessities. One day a sheriff or the “big mean man” comes to take his father to prison because he stole some ham. After Sounder, the dog, gets shot and crawls away to the forest to treat his wounds. The boy desperately misses his dog and his father. In his journeys to the jail and to the fields and forest he searches for his beloved father and dog. Finally Sounder comes home missing an eye some limbs and half an ear. He never barks, and he always waits for his master...until one day the boy’s father comes back, he too, is injured. Now, the boy is learning to read and helping his mother. They pass away, the dog and the father. Happily, though.

In the town of Protectorate every year they leave a baby as a “offering” to the witch for peace. However, the actual witch is a very kind one name Xan. One day when she goes to pick the baby up she finds herself falling in love with her. She names the baby Luna but accidentally feeds her moonlight instead of starlight which makes Luna magical. Xan is taking care of Luna but soon Xan realizes that taking care of a baby was a harder thing to do than she realized, and even harder when the baby is magical. Meanwhile in Protectorate there is a boy prepared to be a elder, leader of the town, but he has too much questions so the elders decide they will have to “do away with him”. But the oldest elder has a heart for this boy...Now because of fake stories about the “witch” or Xan, the kind boy plans on killing Xan for supposedly “stealing” babies when she is only protecting them from sorrow. The boy resigns from the elder council and marries a new wife named Ethyne. They now have the youngest baby which they will have to sacrifice. So the boy designs a plan to kill the witch before. Meanwhile Luna’s magic evolves making her having sudden outbursts of magic. Since her memories were hidden away she does not know what magic means but, thinks only that she remembers something about the word. She feels the need to protect Xan so she followers her dear Grandmama on a journey without her knowing and her two friends Gerth and Fydrian on her heels in search of her. Her “mad” mother is also searching for her lost, sacrificed daughter, Luna. She know the real witch and is out about to stop her from feeding on people’s sorrow. An epic story where paths cross defining truth from lie.

Professor William Waterman Sherman wants some free, peace and quiet. Aboard the Globe, a hot air balloon he leaves San Francisco on a journey for a year, or so he says. The wind and the gulls happen to blow him to a island called The Pacific Island, Krakatoa. He meets Mr. F who explains to him that to others the island is an inhabited place so he says the a professor would have landed here anyway. They would have shot his balloon (so he could land) for this island is a secret. In Krakatoa there are volcanic land quakes, unimaginable wealth of diamonds, and much friendly people. The only catch, Professor William Waterman Sherman is not allowed to leave the island... The professor once again learns about the island’s government the “restaurant style” government, where each family(there are 20) owns a restaurant and they cook for the whole town once a week. There are various contraptions that make life easier, such as a bed that changes its own sheets. The professor now goes swimming often and he is telling his tale of San Francisco when the earth starts shaking violently and all jump to escape on the 21 balloon platform contraption. They live on Dutch cocoa and a dish of meat, sauerkraut, sausages, and gravy. Since the professor doesn’t have a parachute he must be remained to land the platform when all the others jump off to countries and close to the ground the F family, the professor’s friends does too. Now that is the tale of why he was stranded alone on with 21 balloons and 2 diamond cufflinks.

Honestly I love all books and all authors, but right now my favorites are Keeper of the Lost Cities and Wendy Mass. I have been on Dogo less than a year but I am really enjoying it and I feel like I have lots of friends on here!! I also follow back and @glitterunicorn7 I already followed you!!
