I think this was a great book! It is about this girl named Mississippi (Mibs) Beumont. Her family is special because they inherit these special powers called a savvy. When the person turns 13, their savvy gets activated. Right before Mibs 13th birthday, her dad gets into a terrible accident. Now the only savvy she wishes for is to wake up her father and heal him. Her mom sends someone else to take care of the children. Her name is Miss Rosemary. Since Miss Rosemary knows that she is sad, she sets up a birthday party. Mainly her family isn't suppose to do this to prevent harm so, this was very risky for her siblings and other people around her. Later during the party Will Junior gives her a pen set for her birthday. After that she faints. She is unconscious. When she wakes up, she hears many voices. Throughout the party she faints a lot. Her and Will Junior decide to sneak on a bus to get to the hospital that her dad is at. Someone else catches them and says that she has to come with them because if anything happens to them then she is responsible for them. So they all go on the bus. later the bus driver realizes that there are people on this bus. Now I feel like this next part is a plot twister. Instead of telling them to get out, he wants to get to know them and agrees to drive them where they need to go. Later he says that he needs to go a few places before driving them to the hospital. So he goes to the places he needs to go and goes through different things. Later, a person who boarded the bus after Will Junior and Mibs called the police. Then they have to tell them the whole story. After that, Will's dad agrees to drive them to the hospital. Then she discovers that her savvy is being able to read peoples minds.
I felt that this was a great book. I liked that plot twister. I can relate this book to Zach King My Magical Life. In both books it talks about people having magical powers. It also talks about the characters struggles. I thought that this is an awesome book! Even thought it is not the best book it is still great. I would recommend this book to anyone!
