Unsinkable was NOT a good start to the Titanic series. It's very, very bland and slow. The plot moves like molasses. I was pretty disappointed, as I had read Gordon Korman's Chasing the Falconers series, and I loved it, so I expected this book to be just as good. The characters don't have anything about them that really stands out or makes them interesting; they're all pretty stereotypical characters. Alfie is the mostly-honest guy who just wants to make sure he doesn't get fired because of Paddy, Paddy is a stowaway who's harboring anger for two thugs who he thinks killed his friend, Sophie is the girl who's supportive all the time, and Juliana is a rich, picky, snob who will instantly have a heart change just in the nick of time. I had to force myself to read this book to the last page, as it progresses so slowly...the only part that I actually thought was good was at the end, where we get a half-decent cliffhanger. Hopefully the rest of this series will be much better, and move more quickly with the story-line. Recommended age: 10 and under.Over 7 years agohappypug12 added a book review.

I won this book from a giveaway, so thank you iDOGO! This book truly DOES have "everything you always wanted to know about everything!" Want to learn about the basketball that records every dribble and shot you make? No problem! Running out of corny jokes to annoy your family with? Not anymore. I betcha you never knew how to survive a Killer Bee attack ( I already did, but still). Well, you will know now. Every time I flip through the pages I find something new. Great for all ages and anyone who wants to learn about EVERYTHING.Over 7 years agohappypug12's book review was featured in Story Thieves.
Story Thieves is an absolutely unique book that will twist your mind into a pretzel. It's a story, in a story, inside another story. The author even had the audacity to add himself in the book which is BOLD and I LOVE IT. Bethany can travel into books and story worlds, and when Owen sees her come out of a book easy as you please he BEGS and PLEADS for her to take him into his favorite series ever to meet his favorite character, Kiel Gnomenfoot. I enjoyed every part of Story Thieves and I have no critiques. It was like reading two books in one and ANYONE will love it - especially those Harry Potter fans out there! But honestly, if you're a lover of books and you don't mind losing your sanity to a book series, then start reading right NOW!Over 7 years agohappypug12 added a book review.

Legacy of the Claw was a great start to the first book of the Animas series. For the most part, it's interesting; but I found it lacking the pulse-pounding excitement that I was expecting. Sure, learning about this new world with each human being tied to a kin was definitely interesting, but it all seemed a little predictable and mild for my taste. We have Bailey, the farm boy, who hasn't awakened his kin yet, predictably feeling left out and predictably becoming an easy target for bullies. I would have liked more mystery and intrigue, as you can instantly tell who's gonna be good and who's gonna be evil. Not to say that a 10 year old wouldn't enjoy this book, but that was just my opinion. If you liked the Spirit Animals series, check this one out; they're really similar. Suggested age group: ages 11 and under.Over 7 years agohappypug12 added a book review.
