While the rest of us were trying to figure out how to thaw our birds, the folks at Cincinnati's Fountain Square were making sure their turkeys were as frozen as possible. That's because they were getting ready for the Turkey Bowl, a fund-raising event, that happens to be a lot of fun too.

Hundreds of competitors, young and old lined up to participate in this annual tradition, which took place at the square on Wednesday afternoon.

The rules are pretty simple - Each contestant gets three chances to try knock down as many pins as they can. The person who knocks down the most pins (cumulatively ), takes home a grand prize of $100 USD.

While it looks as easy as bowling, most competitors beg to differ - Not only is the 'ball' a lot heavier, but also, trickier to slide across the slippery ice. It is therefore not surprising that Bill Stountenberg, this year's grand prize winner, managed to knock only 19 of the 30 pins.

And, before you start worrying about all the 'wasted' birds, the 'balls' are all turkeys that were slated to be thrown away by stores, anyway!
