The Ruins of Gorlan was a fairly good book. A ten year old would probably love this book, but there are a few problems with this book. First of all, the author, Mr. Flanagan, uses a lot of more complex words that I couldn't even understand (and I'm in middle school)! The story is good for the age limit, but the hard-to-understand words could definitely use a bit more simplifying for the younger audiences. Second, as the age limit says 10 and up, I find there to be mild swearing in the book. I don't know if there need be swearing in a book designed for that age limit. But all in all, I really enjoyed this book and I could actually sympathize with all the characters because they're not perfect. Can't wait to get my hands on the next book!About 8 years agohappypug12 wants to read this book.

Fifth book of The Creature from My Closet series and it's still getting funnier. This is one of the very, very, few books that I actually laugh out loud with instead of chuckling silently in my head like other "comedy" books. Have you ever imagined what Gollum and the Cat in the Hat would look like if they were mixed? No, you haven't. Have you ever imagined that Jack would throw his shoe in a bonfire, Rob would ride the slowest train on the planet, his dad would win a contest, or that Suessol (Gollum and Cat in the Hat) would burn the preciousssss rings? If not, then what are you waiting for? There's hilarious material to be laughed at!About 8 years agohappypug12 added a book review.

Being the fifth installment of Obert Skye's "The Creature from My Closet" series, let me just say that these books are amazing, and each book is better than the last. This book is filled with humor, action (sort of), unaverageness, and averageness. This book follows the story of Robert Columbo Burnside, an average kid with an average closet, until his Dad buys an odd closet door at a yard sale. After that, the closet spat out multiple odd creatures that are a mixture of 2 characters from books. Robert then reads the books to find out the story of these strange creatures. This time, a Gollum-Cat in the Hat mixture pops out. All in all, these books are masterpieces and I highly recommend them. Obert Skye has done it again!About 8 years agohappypug12 has read this book.

When this book started, immediately I was brought back to one of my favorite book series: Gods and Warriors. (I almost thought I had accidentally picked up the Gods and Warriors book again.) But after the first chapter I realized that this was a whole different story. Nic finds the Bulla, which is filled with the overpowering magic bestowed by one of the gods–the question is: which god or goddess? Nic's wildest dreams comes true–along with some of his worst nightmares too. Another user of magic searches tirelessly for him and his bulla, seeking to harness the magic it contains. Who really are Nic's allies and enemies? Or is there really no difference between them? In this well-paced fantasy story, Nic is pitted against the beasts, magic itself, griffins, family, and the desires of his own heart. I can't wait to get my hands on the sequel!About 8 years agohappypug12 added a book review.
